Why it's worth it

The cheapest part of running your business

Less than one hour of your day rate

£19/month is less than one hour at a tradesperson's day rate — and it saves you 4+ hours of admin every month.

HMRC penalties start at £100

Late filing penalties start at £100 minimum, rising to £1,600+ for persistent failures. 123Tax costs just £228 a year.

A traditional accountant costs £500–£1,500/year

For the same service, a high-street accountant charges three to six times more. 123Tax delivers it from £228.

Questions about pricing

Pricing FAQs

Straightforward answers about what you get, what it costs, and how billing works.

Which plan is right for me?

If you are a self-employed sole trader filing Self Assessment returns, the Starter plan at £19 per month covers everything you need for Making Tax Digital compliance. If you work as a subcontractor under the Construction Industry Scheme and have CIS tax deducted from your payments, the CIS Pro plan at £29 per month adds CIS refund claims, deduction tracking and statement reconciliation — which typically saves CIS workers thousands of pounds per year in overpaid tax. If you operate through a limited company or are VAT registered, the Business+ plan at £49 per month includes VAT returns, year-end company accounts and corporation tax filing.

Are there any hidden fees or setup costs?

No. The monthly price you see is the price you pay. There are no setup fees, no onboarding charges, no extra costs for quarterly submissions, and no additional fee for your annual Self Assessment filing. All prices are shown excluding VAT. You are billed monthly and can cancel at any time without penalty. We believe in transparent pricing because tradespeople have enough hidden costs to deal with already.

How does 123Tax compare to a traditional accountant?

A typical high-street accountant charges between £500 and £1,500 per year for a sole trader's Self Assessment return and basic bookkeeping. With 123Tax, the Starter plan costs just £228 per year and includes MTD quarterly submissions, receipt capture via WhatsApp, expense categorisation, Self Assessment filing and deadline reminders. You get the same compliance outcome for a fraction of the cost, with the added convenience of managing everything through WhatsApp rather than visiting an office or emailing spreadsheets. For CIS subcontractors, the savings are even greater when you factor in the CIS refunds we help you claim.

Can I cancel at any time?

Yes. There are no contracts, no lock-in periods, and no exit fees. You can cancel your 123Tax subscription at any time and you will not be charged again. If you cancel during a billing period, you will have access until the end of that period. We will also ensure any outstanding HMRC submissions due within that period are completed before your account closes. We make it easy to leave because we would rather earn your business every month than lock you into a contract.

What is included in the free trial?

Your free trial gives you full access to 123Tax so you can experience the service before committing. You can send receipts via WhatsApp, see how we categorise your expenses, and get a feel for how the quarterly submission process works. No credit card is required to start your trial. At the end of the trial period, you can choose the plan that suits your business and start your paid subscription. If you decide it is not for you, simply do nothing and your trial ends automatically.
